Welcome to the Reversal Theory Society! 

This website is designed to share the work of those active in the research and use of Reversal Theory. 

Reversal Theory is - at its essence - a theory of the structure of mental life.  Developed by Dr. Michael Apter, Reversal Theory emphasizes the complexity, changeability, and inconsistency of behavior, and proposes that individuals can and do regularly reverse between psychological states, depending upon the meaning and motives felt by that individual.

This site includes an overview of Reversal Theory, documents from past Reversal Theory conferences, a complete Reversal Theory bibliography, and connections to others active in this research area. We welcome your comments!
